April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. in seventh grade. She began playing guitar, and also taking piano lessons, sparking her love for music writing. April's first song was Different which she composed at 12 years of age. When she was 14 April was a huge devotee of time composing songs and practicing her music. The following months she began taking trips to write along with her father, and her father to LA in addition to NY. April was able to add various other topics relevant to the Take my Hand song for some of her friends, like peer-pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart has her own fanbase and is an online lifestyle blogger for the well-known Ilia Clean Beauty brand. She has a disability that is part of her character, but it's not the complete story. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't cover up her disability, but it does not only focus on her disability. What's the message? The message is of identities and that we're far greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart said via video she does not wish to be defined by the condition she has. She doesn't wish to become an advocate for disabled people who only speaks about it. There are many aspects of Lockhart. My day-today life is not affected by it. I lead a normal day-to-day life and discover myself solutions for problems. But it's also a part of me so I think it's important to talk about. Lockhart is a great example to self-acceptance and is currently on a lengthy journey to achieve it. However, she acknowledges going through a series of phases in her body at times not being confident in wearing certain types of clothing that showed off her arms. Today, she wears what she's comfortable in and post photos of herself wearing those clothes to the internet with a sense of pride. She claims that self-love is a process. It's hard to say if you'll ever get there. It's a trip, but I'm not convinced that you will ever arrive. It's my opinion that having those that know you and see your emotions is important because they'll also be the people whom you can count on to remind you about what your worries about?
